Governor's Designee and Chairman

Peter Markham.jpgPeter G. Markham was appointed to serve as the Governor's Designee and Chairman of the School Building Authority in June 2012 by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.
 
As General Counsel to Governor Tomblin’s Office, Peter provides advice and counsel to the governor and his staff, and supervises the legal affairs of the various executive branch agencies.  Peter also serves as Governor Tomblin’s designee on the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission and on the State Armory Board.
 
Prior to joining Governor Tomblin’s Office in 2012, Peter was a partner at a Charleston litigation firm.  He began his legal career in 2003 as a law clerk to the Hon. Robert B. King, Circuit Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  Peter holds degrees from Virginia Tech, the West Virginia University College of Law, and the London School of Economics.  He resides in Charleston with his wife and daughter.
