Gary Price

Mr. Gary Price was employed for forty-four years with the Marion County Board of Education from 1975 to 2019, holding every administrative position in the county, including Teaching-Principal, Assistant Principal, Administrative Assistant, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. He was named to five different administrative positions by five different superintendents. 


Named West Virginia Superintendent of the Year in 2019 by the State Superintendents Association, Mr. Price represented West Virginia Superintendents on various committees and appointments for the State Superintendent​ of Schools, West Virginia Board of Education, and the State Superintendents Association.

Mr. Price has seen first-hand the condition of many schools in West Virginia, having served on On-Site Committees in thirty-nine different counties during the time the State Board of Education was having committee reviews of county performances.


As a school administrator, Mr. Price served as President of the Marion County Principals Association on several occasions, President of the Marion County Middle School Athletic Association for nearly twenty years, Commissioner of the Mason-Dixon Athletic Conference, assigned athletic officials for fourteen county and area middle schools, and assisted with the administration of numerous academic competitions and recognitions. He also served his community in a variety of positions, having been elected City Councilman for the City of Mannington for three terms. The community saw Mr. Price as a leader, as he was elected President of the Mannington Lions Club, President of the Mannington Park Board, President of the Mannington Little League and President of the Mannington Pop Warner Football.


Mr. Price was a three-sport athlete at Mannington High School (1971), graduated from Fairmont State College in elementary education (1975) and obtained a Master's degree in Educaton Administration from West Virginia University (1981). He and his wife Jacquie live in Monongah, where they attend Monongah Baptist Church. Mr. Price served as Sunday school teacher and Sunday school Superintendent at Union Valley Church. For twenty-five years, they coordinated the activities of the Sharing and Caring Cancer Support Group, the largest cancer support group in the state of West Virginia. They have two children: Kris, a businessman in Arizona, and Tiffany, a special education teacher in Virginia. They have four grandchildren.
